After reducing rates by a full percentage point last year, starting with a half-point cut in September, the Fed is now taking a more cautious approach due to persistent inflation concerns and an economy that remains resilient.

In the December meeting, policymakers were divided over the pace of cuts. Cleveland Fed President Beth Hammack opposed the previous rate reduction, emphasizing the need for further progress on inflation before easing policy further. Other officials also expressed mixed opinions, highlighting the Fed’s cautious stance.
