ETH/USD H1 Analysis: Ethereum Tests 2,300 Support as Donchian Pressure Keeps the Short-Term Bias Fragile

ETH/USD is testing the 2,300 support area on the hourly chart while trading below the Donchian midline. Read the latest technical analysis, fundamental market note, and a clear trading signal with entry and exit levels. This setup favors a downside continuation trade because price is sitting near the lower Donchian band, remains below the midline resistance, and the recent swing structure still points to lower highs. A sustained move back above 2,354 would weaken the bearish setup materially.

Technical Analysis

The ETH/USD H1 chart shows that Ethereum has shifted into a weaker short-term structure after failing to hold the 2,400–2,420 area. Price is trading near 2,307.80, just above the lower Donchian Channel at 2,303.10, while remaining below the Donchian midline at 2,353.93 and well under the upper band at 2,404.75. That placement suggests the market is leaning bearish in the near term, with sellers still controlling rallies inside the current range.

Price action also shows a sequence of lower highs from the April 22 peak zone, followed by a steady pullback into the lower end of the channel. The 2,303–2,300 area is now the key immediate support. If ETH breaks that zone decisively, the chart would expose 2,280 first and then the deeper 2,250 support region. On the upside, the first recovery barrier is near 2,320, while stronger resistance stands at 2,354 and then 2,405. As long as price remains below the Donchian midline, the short-term structure stays fragile rather than bullish.

Market participation is no longer confirming strength. The Accumulation/Distribution line remains elevated compared with earlier levels, but it has flattened and rolled over from the latest highs. That usually signals that buying pressure has weakened during the pullback. In practical terms, this is a soft intraday chart with bounce risk, but not yet a confirmed reversal setup.

Fundamental Note

The latest market backdrop has turned less supportive for Ethereum in the short term. Reuters reported on April 23 that global markets became more cautious as tensions around Iran and the Strait of Hormuz intensified again, with oil climbing above $100 and major cryptocurrencies, including bitcoin and ethereum, moving lower as investors pulled back from risk. Reuters said the renewed concern followed video showing commandos boarding a cargo ship and growing fears that the ceasefire had stalled.

At the same time, the medium-term regulatory backdrop is still more constructive than it was earlier in the cycle. Reuters reported on April 9 that U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent urged Congress to pass the Clarity Act, arguing that a clear federal framework for digital assets is needed to support the industry’s development in the United States. That does not remove short-term macro volatility, but it does help the broader institutional case for major crypto assets such as Ethereum.
