Goldman Sachs upgraded Netflix to Buy from Neutral and raised its 12-month price target to $120 from $100, arguing that the stock now offers a more attractive risk-reward profile ahead of the company’s first-quarter earnings report. In the latest market snapshot, Netflix shares were at $98.93.
The constructive view is tied to a cleaner standalone story after the recent deal overhang faded, along with expectations for continued growth from subscriber monetization, advertising, and pricing. Reuters also reported that Netflix raised prices across all of its main U.S. plans in late March, lifting the ad-supported tier to $8.99, the standard plan to $19.99, and the premium plan to $26.99.
Goldman’s thesis, as reported by financial media, centers on three drivers: stronger revenue through the ad business and recent price increases, steady margin expansion, and the potential for renewed capital returns. Reports on the note said Goldman sees advertising revenue rising from roughly $1.5 billion in 2025 to about $4.5 billion by 2027 and close to $9.5 billion by 2030, while also expecting around 250 basis points of annual GAAP operating margin expansion over the next three years.
Possible Market Effect: The upgrade may help support sentiment toward Netflix and the broader streaming space into earnings, especially if investors focus on pricing power, ad monetization, and free-cash-flow potential. But the stock’s reaction will still depend heavily on whether first-quarter results validate Goldman’s more optimistic execution outlook.

Live pricing still says crypto is trading as a macro-sensitive risk asset. BTC is around $68,955, with an intraday range of $66,686 to $69,415. ETH is around $2,128.76, with an intraday range of $2,023.15 to $2,138.79. For today, the two main triggers remain Hormuz/oil headlines and the rates impulse after ISM Services.
Trading idea:
Keep it levels-first. For BTC, a sustained break above $69,415 would suggest the market is leaning into de-escalation and/or softer rates; failure there keeps it in headline-driven chop. A drop back under $66,686 would signal that yields and oil are reasserting control. For ETH, the near-term trigger zone is $2,138.79 on the upside and $2,023.15 on the downside. In this tape, higher yields usually fade crypto rallies, while a credible diplomacy-driven oil pullback gives crypto more room to trend instead of chop.
The ISM Services PMI is due today, Monday, April 6, at 10:00 a.m. ET. ISM’s release calendar states that the Services PMI is published on the third business day of the month at 10:00 a.m. After last week’s March manufacturing report, Reuters highlighted a jump in the prices paid index to 78.3 and slower supplier deliveries tied to war-related disruptions, so the market will be especially focused on whether services inflation pressure is spreading and whether employment still holds up.
Trading idea:
Trade this rates-first. If prices stay hot and activity holds, the cleaner path is higher 2Y yields, firmer USD, and choppy risk. If prices cool while activity stays stable, that supports a softer-landing read and can steady risk assets. If activity weakens sharply, bonds should catch a bid, but the tone can quickly shift from “Fed relief” to “growth scare.” If the 2Y yield does not confirm the first move, fading the initial reaction is the cleaner trade.
A proposed framework has been shared with both the United States and Iran that could deliver an immediate ceasefire and reopen the Strait of Hormuz as early as Monday, April 6. At the same time, Reuters reports that President Trump has set a Tuesday deadline for Hormuz to reopen and has threatened severe retaliation if it remains shut. AP says oil is still carrying a heavy war premium in Asia, with U.S. crude around $111.12 and Brent around $109.67, which means the market remains highly sensitive to any shipping headline.
Trading idea:
Treat this as a binary geopolitical tape. A credible reopen signal would most likely hit oil lower first, then cool front-end yields and weaken the immediate inflation bid. But if diplomacy fails, the more likely setup is higher oil, firmer USD, and wider Monday–Tuesday gap risk across macro and crypto. That is why the first market to trust is still oil, not equities
The labor print is not landing in a normal macro backdrop. Reuters reported that on April 2, WTI settled at $111.54 and Brent at $109.03 after Trump’s tougher Iran comments, while war-driven fuel costs are already pushing up inflation pressure and consumer stress. Reuters also says the March jobs data may still partly reflect weather/strike normalization, even as energy costs and uncertainty are starting to weigh on hiring. That makes the market more sensitive to the wages/inflation implication of NFP than to the headline payroll number alone, and it keeps Monday gap risk elevated if the jobs data and oil story send conflicting signals.
Trading idea:
The hardest mix for risk is soft jobs but firm wages. That would point to slower growth without giving markets a clean disinflation signal, which can keep the USD supported unevenly and leave crypto plus Monday’s equity reopen unstable
Gold moved higher to 4,558.95, up 0.77%, while the broader metals complex was also mostly firmer, with silver up 1.43%, platinum up 2.49%, palladium up 1.71%, and copper rising 0.25%. Base metals also showed a generally positive tone, including gains in aluminium, zinc, lead, and nickel, although tin fell 1.61%. The move suggests that part of the metals market is stabilizing after recent volatility, with precious metals attempting to recover and industrial metals showing selective resilience.
Still, OCBC said gold’s rebound looks largely technical for now rather than the start of a clearly durable uptrend. The bank noted that bearish momentum has eased somewhat, with the RSI recovering from oversold territory, but warned that gold still needs to reclaim key resistance levels around $4,624, $4,670, and $4,850 per ounce to confirm a stronger recovery. OCBC also cautioned that persistently high energy prices could keep inflation elevated, lift Treasury yields, and create a more difficult near-term environment for gold.

PPI → PCE expectations: Hotter wholesale inflation can lift expectations for the Fed’s preferred inflation gauges and delay “cuts,” tightening financial conditions.
Transmission to markets:
Tighter conditions typically mean higher real yields + stronger USD → lower risk appetite and tougher liquidity for levered crypto.
Traders note:
Watch the first 5–15 minutes post-release—if BTC and tech risk move in the same direction, macro is driving; if they diverge, it’s crypto microstructure (flows/expiry).
Why?
Today is a macro-first day: the cleanest crypto edges come from reading rates → risk → crypto in that order.

Event-risk alert: US PPI (Jan) is the macro tripwire today.
Why it matters: PPI is a key input into the Fed’s inflation narrative (and can swing rate-cut pricing fast).
What it means: Today’s first move is likely a rates/liquidity move; crypto typically follows the direction of financial conditions.

Tape check: BTC ~$67.7k, ETH ~$2.04k (both softer on the day).
Institutional flow pulse: Spot BTC ETF inflows recently hit a 3-week high day, hinting demand is returning after de-risking.
Positioning catalyst: A large BTC options expiry today (reports flag ~$7.8B notional) can amplify intraday whipsaws around key strikes.
What it means: If price rallies on thin spot follow-through while expiry gravity is high, expect faster reversals. Cleaner trends typically need spot-led continuation.

❇️ What to watch:
If flows stay negative while BTC rallies, moves can be fragile (more likely to fade).
🔼 Upside gate: break + hold $69.8k → room to $71.0k–$72.5k.
🔽 Downside gate: lose $65.0k and fail the reclaim → $63.5k–$61.5k.
Alternative: Below 410.05, look for downside toward 403.92, then 400.28
Momentum / notes: RSI > 70 (strong trend or overbought → watch for bearish divergence), MACD positive and above signal, price above 20/50 MAs (412.59 / 407.31) → overall positive configuration, but allow for an intraday pullback.
Alternative: Below 193.64, look for downside toward 191.24, then 189.82
Momentum/notes: RSI > 50 (supportive), MACD positive but below signal (pullback risk), price above 20/50 MAs (195.27 / 192.46) → bullish structure, but allow for intraday retracement.
