Asian stock indices modestly outperformed on June 4, buoyed by political developments and hopes for trade negotiations:

South Korea (KOSPI): Gained over 2 % after Lee Jae-myung’s presidential victory fueled expectations of economic reform.
Japan (Nikkei 225): Climbed roughly 1 %, led by strength in technology and pharmaceutical sectors.
Taiwan (Taiex): Posted solid gains in line with regional momentum.
MSCI Asia-Pacific Index: Rose approximately 0.6 %, reflecting tentative optimism despite lingering uncertainty over a potential Trump-Xi call.

Investors remain hopeful that direct communication between President Trump and President Xi will revive stalled U.S.-China trade negotiations. In May, Washington and Beijing agreed to a temporary tariff reduction, but a more durable agreement has yet to materialize.
