Daily Market Update
Markets are steadier today, but the tone is still fragile. The main story is oil volatility: Brent is around $86.9 and WTI is near $83.1 after reports that the IEA may consider its largest-ever emergency reserve release, while Middle East risks are still keeping investors on edge.
In equities, the mood is mildly constructive rather than fully risk-on. Asia traded higher, with Japan’s Nikkei up about 1.7%, South Korea’s Kospi up about 1.75%, and MSCI Asia-Pacific ex-Japan up about 1.4%. U.S. futures are also slightly firmer, with S&P 500 and Nasdaq futures up roughly 0.2%.
Safe havens remain supported. Spot gold is trading near $5,198, holding firm on geopolitical demand and ahead of today’s U.S. CPI release.
In rates and FX, the market is waiting for inflation data before taking a bigger directional view. The U.S. 10-year yield is around 4.15%, while the Dollar Index is slightly softer near 98.73.
Crypto is relatively stable after recent swings. Bitcoin is hovering around $69.9K, which suggests risk appetite has improved from the worst levels, but conviction is still limited while oil and macro headlines dominate.
What matters most today:
The market is trading around two forces: falling oil from emergency-release hopes and persistent geopolitical risk, with U.S. CPI later today likely deciding whether stocks can extend gains, yields stay elevated, and gold/crypto keep support.
